It’s November 22nd just after 10am in the Rotary Flames House at The Alberta Children’s Hospital.

You’ve been holding your almost 6 month old baby for 15 hours straight wondering which breath would be the last. He looks into his eyes and you know, it’s done, he’s done, and he takes his final breath. His fight, his life and all of the dreams you had for your little boy are suddenly gone. There won’t be a later, or tomorrow, or next week. This is all the time you get. 179 days gone, just like that. You stare blankly at the wall not knowing what to do. What is the next step? You sob uncontrollably because you wont get to see his blue eyes light up the room again, you wont get to see his smile or have a dance party again to Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop The Feeling.

This was the last time you will feel his warmth and he will feel yours.
